Dear Brookdale Students,
In connection with Read Across America Week and the One District, One Book initiative, you are invited to participate in a poster contest. A winning poster will be chosen at each grade level. The poster will be color printed and hung around the school building during the months of February and March. Guest readers who visit the building during Read Across America Week will also be given a copy of the poster to hang in their office.
The theme for Read Across America this year is “Be Brave – Tell Your Story”. Please design your poster to incorporate this theme. Think about storytelling, as well as books that focus on the themes of bravery and heroes to help you design your poster. A large sheet of white paper will be sent home with all students. If you use paper from home, please use paper that is sized 8.5 x 14 (preferred) OR 8.5 x 11. Your poster can be designed horizontally or vertically.
Winning posters will be chosen based on art work, incorporation of the theme, and creativity. Do your best to create a colorful and original poster! Also, try to print the theme/title in bold and neat letters that can be easily noticed and read. Take your time to create a poster that shows your best effort and work.
Posters should be handed in to your classroom teacher by Friday, February 16th, if you want to participate in the contest. Classroom teachers will turn all entries into Mrs. Ferrari. Please put your name, grade, and classroom teacher on the paper before turning it in.
Best of luck to all!
The Brookdale School Read Across America Committee
